Buzz Lightyear Doesn't have a Paci!

Big Boy sleeping with out a Paci!

Emmie sitting at the air port going to Sesame Place on vacation. Loving that Paci!

So Chad left for Houston this last week for a 7 week remodel of Chick-Fil-A so the kids and I have been on our own. When he goes out of town it usually takes a week or two to get into a new groove. Last Wednesday Jax and Emmie went to school and like normal Jax had a nap (for a couple of weeks now he has been giving me all the signs that he is ready to give up his nap) so that night when I put them to bed at 7:45 he lay ed in bed until 9:30 and chewed on his paci. Once I got in there he showed me his paci and said "I broke paci" I told him to go and throw it away, he did, came back and I asked him if he wanted to be a big boy and go to sleep with out his paci? He said "Jax a Big Boy" I told him that we would go to the toy store and get a toy if he slept with out it. He said "Ok, I get a Woody" a woody doll from Toy Story. He rolled over and went off to sleep. I couldn't believe my self and thought this was a fluke and he would cry and want it tomorrow and being the caver that I am I would give in and that would be that (deep down I really wasn't ready for this, I hadn't had any mentally preparation time). Nope we woke up that morning and NOT A WORD about the paci the whole day. I told him how proud I was of him, we called Daddy and Gammy and then got ready to head to Toys R Us. He has asked about it a few times at bed time so I go and get one (that I cut) and show him that it is broken. Thursday night he did ask Chad to "fix it" but has yet to have any real tears over it! That little booger has gone since that night with out a paci and is even surviving the stomach virus with out it.

Jax Man what a big step to make! We are so very proud of you, you are now officially a big boy! Daddy and I can't believe how fast you are growing up. You are not our "baby" any more and it makes us sad. You have come so far in this last week, once you gave up the paci your words and sentences have not stopped. So big So fast!

Just a note: Emmie was so PROUD of Jax she ran up to him and gave him a hug and said "good job boogie, I am so proud of you". I don't know if she can get any sweeter to him (most of the time of course)? She is totally like his second mother, in fact I have to remind her of that from time to time. She did ask me about when she gave her paci up and I told her the story. It was Nov 30th, 2006 and it was snowing. Chad and I were redoing her closet that weekend and when I went to lay her down she told me she wanted a certain baby doll that she had seen on TV. I told her that if she went to sleep with out the paci then we would go and get the doll at Wal-Mart when she got up. She proved me wrong and sure did sleep with out it. So we sure did go to the store and get that baby doll. She did however think that was the only time she had to sleep with out it and that night she told me that she wanted the paci. She stayed strong and never looked back!

I thought it so ironic to me that they are so close in age when giving it up. Emmie was 2 years 5 months and 7 days and Jax was 2 years 4 months and 16 days. Kinda scary, both made their minds up and by golly that was it!

Now if we can just get through potty training we will be set!
